Changes to the ECE Funding Rates approved with the 2007 Budget
In Budget 2007 the Government has increased funding rates from 1 July 2007 to compensate Early Childhood Education Services for increases in their costs.
Key Messages: the ECE Funding Rate increase 1 July 2007
- In total Budget 2007 includes commitments worth $64.6 million for ECE over the next 4 years.
- The ECE funding rates have been adjusted to fund services for the increased costs they face. This will reduce the need for ECE services to increase fees charged to parents.
- The adjustments are based on average cost increases for each type of service and reflect the different increases in costs faced by different services.
- This Budget also includes specific funding increases for kōhanga reo to support them to be more financially sustainable
Rates for the Support Grant and Equity funding
The Support Grant for Provisionally Registered Teachers has increased from $313.50 to $327.83 per teacher per month (including GST). Equity funding rates have not changed in the 2007 Budget.
