In Budget 2007 the Government has increased funding rates from 1 July 2007 to compensate Early Childhood Education Services for increases in their costs.

Key Messages: the ECE Funding Rate increase 1 July 2007

• In total Budget 2007 includes commitments worth $64.6 million for ECE over the next 4 years.
  
• The ECE funding rates have been adjusted to fund services for the increased costs they face. This will reduce the need for ECE services to increase fees charged to parents.
  
• The adjustments are based on average cost increases for each type of service and reflect the different increases in costs faced by different services.
  
• This Budget also includes specific funding increases for kōhanga reo to support them to be more financially sustainable
