Although Easy Mind is not a member of the New Zealand Home-based Early Childhood Education Association (NZHECEA), we were saddened to hear that the service has gone into liquidation. The disruption to children, parents and educators is upsetting. This liquidation highlights the fragility of the funding received by the home-based sector. A child in home-based services attracts the lowest rate of base funding from the Ministry of Education. The Association is working closely with the Ministry to establish the real costs of providing a home-based service.
