Entitlements of Affiliate Members who are a MOE Homebased Early childhood service or network –
- Core business insurance covers for service providers at group scheme rates including business interruption covering loss of profit if the educator/nanny parent homes that form part of each MOE licensed network become unavailable due to natural disaster, public and statutory liabilities, contents and vehicle covers.

Public Liability Home-based educators take on a significant responsibility when they agree to care for other people's children. Like most businesses in the services industry, insurance is required. The industry body, the NZHECEA, has negotiated a good deal on insurance for its members. As well as a competitive rate, this NZHECEA policy offers the most comprehensive insurance for home-based educators. NZHECEA is a not-for-profit organisation that uses its collective clout and reinvests any income earned to deliver services to members such as: As the New Zealand Home-based Childcare Association is 100 percent New Zealand member owned, professional child care service providers can be confident that the insurance policy on offer to educators has been created to meet their specific needs. NZHECEA's public liability insurance offers insurance protection for educators conducting in-home childcare services. This insurance protects educators in case of third party property damage, injury to children in care or injury to any member of the general public that arises from the provision of the in-home childcare service. This policy does not cover the educator or their family for property damage or injury. If a claim is brought against a home-based educator in relation to an injury to a child in care, for example, without insurance the business owner could be personally liable to pay any damages or compensation that may be awarded to the child. Public liability indemnifies the business against such claims, subject always to the policy terms and conditions. The errors and omissions (Statutory liability) covers civil liability for any claim arising from a breach of professional duty. This covers (individual) legal costs associated with the defence of a successful criminal prosecution brought in relation to your childcare business. How do I get more information?
