Open Polytechnic Certificate in Early Childhood Practice

 

 

 

The Open Polytechnic is now offering a new 40 credit qualification, the Open Polytechnic Certificate in Early Childhood Practice (Level 4). Enrolment for the first intake has been extended until 1 August, 2011. There is now open enrolments, you can enroll at anytime for this course.

Specifically designed for distance learners, the new certificate is suitable for those involved in a range of early childhood settings including homebased, education and care centres, play groups and parents of young children. 

This qualification has been developed in conjunction with New Zealand Homebased Early Childhood Education Association (NZHECEA) and Barnardos to ensure it meets the needs and requirements of the sector.  By gaining the Open Polytechnic Certificate in Early Childhood Practice (level 4), homebased educators not only meet the requirements for Ministry of Education quality funding but all graduates will be equipped to work effectively with children and families in a range of early childhood settings.

This qualification is an ideal starting point for students wanting to gain academic skills and knowledge, and an understanding of early childhood education in Aotearoa New Zealand. The qualification will also support entry into the Open Polytechnic Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) programme.

NZHECEA member discount

Educators and students who are individual members of NZHECEA are able to enrol at discounted rates.  You will need to provide your membership number on the enrolment application form that is submitted directly to Open Polytechnic. Pricing includes a 50% discount for course one ($202.50 plus an annual administration fee of $55) and no fees for course two. Enrol before 1 August 2011

  • Enrolments will be now be accepted until 1 August
  • The programme will open for tuition from 11 July as advised
  • Students will be accepted provisionally on the terms identified above) and subject to receiving an acceptable referee report and clear MOJ/ verification of clear police vet (up to 12 months old) within 30 days of their enrolment being confirmed.
  • Students with outstanding documents at 31 August will have their enrolment cancelled.

Further information on membership eligibility and how to join the Association can be found here. Membership numbers are the same as the individual invoice number issued by the Association upon application for membership. Memberships will be confirmed upon receipt of payment to the Association and verified by the Open Polytechnic prior to being accepted into the certificate.
