Earthquake Update Information 14 June
Reopening information - ECE services
All ECE services
It is the property owner's responsibility, in the first instance, in any area affected by the earthquake to ensure that their property is safe for staff, children and parents.
ECE services in Christchurch City that are safe to open must complete the Earthquake (13 June) ECE assessment form (download here) advising that their facility is safe to open and send it to the Ministry.
Email your completed assessment form to christchurch [dot] ece [at] minedu [dot] govt [dot] nz or fax 03 378 7308.
June 13 earthquakes
If your ECE was affected by the 13 June earthquake, either damaged or by liquefaction you must:
- Arrange a specialist assessment of the facilities; complete the specialist assessment documentation (download here).
- Complete Option 2 of the Earthquake (13 June) ECE assessment form, once you are open.
- Email your Earthquake (13 June) ECE assessment form and completed specialist assessment documentation to christchurch [dot] ece [at] minedu [dot] govt [dot] nz or fax 03 378 7308.
The Ministry strongly recommends ECE services use the most up-to-date Canterbury District Health Public Health guidance for water and sewage information.
Emergency Closure Funding
To allow ECE services in Christchurch City, Waimakariri and Selwyn districts to ensure that their property is safe for staff, children and parents emergency closure funding is available for Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 June 2011.
ECE services in Christchurch City will be able to claim Emergency Closure Funding until Friday 17 June 2011.
This will allow the Ministry time to gain a full understanding of the situation and assess what further support may be needed for these services.
If your service is closed beyond these dates please contact the Ministry on 03 378 7300 or 0800 225 580.
