Overarching theme

At this conference you will be challenged to think about the value of relationships, resilience and respect and how these concepts are manifested in home-based early childhood education and care. We have chosen the topics of sustainability, socio-cultural practice and story-telling through which to do this.

Information for attendees

Registration

Registration and workshop selection is completed by the online form

Booking Accommodation

Accommodation can be booked directly with the hotel - see above for contact details. Twin share rooms start from $120.00 per night.   The hotel is holding all available rooms for our delegates, should these be insufficient they will provide delegates with details of several hotels adjacent to the Chancellor. There is free car-parking available in the hotel car-park for conference delegates.

Resource sustainability

As we are putting into practice some thoughts on resource sustainability, please:

  • Bring your own conference bag. Information packs will be provided at the reception desk for you. This will be a good opportunity to recycle some of those bags from previous conferences. Delegates with excess bags are encouraged to bring them along for first time conference delegates.
  • Bring your own bottle for water. There will be some bottles available at a charge.
  • Walk from the airport to the hotel. It is a 3km walk and will take you about half an hour. This is a good chance to get some exercise before settling into the conference.
  • Or get a shuttle. There is a hotel shuttle that costs $10 per return trip per person (pay at the hotel). The shuttle leaves the airport every hour, on the hour and half past. It is a yellow bus labeled Hotel Grand Chancellor.

Local amenities

There are several eating options nearby should you require food before the conference starts -

  • There is a café at the hotel, with an all day menu offering light meals and snacks as well as a dinner and desert menu.
  • It is a fifty metre stroll to the local bakery, dairy and a couple of eateries.

International Delegates

We welcome delegates from other countries to our Annual Conference and look forward to hosting you. Any queries with regards to payment of the registration costs should firstly be directed to treasurer [at] nzhomebasedece [dot] org [dot] nz (treasurer [at] nzhomebasedece [dot] org [dot] nz).

Any International delegates wishing to visit New Zealand Home-based ECE services may direct their enquiries to secretary [at] nzhomebasedece [dot] org [dot] nz (secretary [at] nzhomebasedece [dot] org [dot] nz). We will do our best to accommodate any guests and will put you in touch with a range of service members in the Auckland area.

Whakatau

The Conference will open with a Whakatau. All koha will be gratefully accepted - a basket will be available on the registration desk.

Delegate Questions

Prior to the Conference, delegates are asked to submit any questions they may have for Karl LeQuesne (Ministry of Education Group Manager Early Childhood Education), the Home-based ECE Association Executive Board, and/ or the regional group meetings.

Questions may be sent to Secretary [at] nzhomebased [dot] ece [dot] org [dot] nz (secretary [at] nzhomebased [dot] ece [dot] org [dot] nz), no later than 30 August 2010.

Conference Meals

Full Conference registration includes all meals. Breakfast is continental only; if you require a cooked breakfast this is at an additional cost and will be charged direct to your room. The Home-based ECE Association will not be responsible for any delegate room charges.

Trade Stalls

These will be available on Saturday from morning tea to afternoon tea inclusive in the hotel foyer.

Conference Dinner

For the Conference Dinner come along in an outfit you already have that tells a story about you - be prepared to share your story.

Full registration includes the cost of the Conference Dinner.  Delegates wishing to attend on Saturday Only are welcome to pay for the Conference Dinner separately - see the Registration page.   Please note that you must have a ‘Full' conference badge or an amended ‘Saturday Only' badge to attend the Conference Dinner.
